Issues with applying for an IHI?
Read below

When applying for an IHI, a number of error messages may appear as explained below…

Error 1

You are not eligible for an IHI Services at this time

Two reasons this message will show:

  1. You already have an active Medicare number and a search of the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) will be required to identify your current recognised Medicare number.
Only registered providers are able to access or search the AIR database.  The COVIDProof service can provide this for you
To add your Medicare number to MyGov, call 132 307 to get a linking code for Medicare

  2.  You have an expired Medicare number, the options are:

a.      CovidProof can do a search for you to establish if there is an existing record
b.     You could call 1800 723 471 (My Health Record on myGov) and get an access code which will give you access to vaccination certificates, but you will not be able to link the certificates to Check-in apps or wallet
c.      You may need to re-apply for Medicare

Error 2

IHI service could not be registered at this time

  1. This message usually indicates there is an issue with your address when applying for IHI

When entering your address

a.      Only use building address (not unit or apartment number)
b.     wait for drop down menu of address choices to appear
c.      select matching address
d.     If you need to enter your address manually e.g. Unit 1402 / 220 Spencer Street, Melbourne, Victoria, 3000, it must be entered in the following format:

              U 1402 220 SPENCER ST
MELBOURNE
VIC
3000

2. This message will also often appear if your name does not match a current visa. On an Australian entry visa, your last name (surname) will always appear in capital letters e.g.

John Michael Smith will appear on the visa as: John Michael SMITH
This format may help with entering your details correctly into the first and last name fields

Error 3

We can’t verify your identity document

You will need to enter your name exactly as it appears in your passport or driver’s licence

  1. There are only five attempts allowed to correct these details

  2. There is no middle name option in IHI and often this means putting middle names into the first name category

  3. The first name field only allows a maximum of 15 characters and will automatically cut off additional letters/characters

Examples of Name Formats

1.              Vietnamese names

Passport format:           Ngoc Minh Truc Vo

           IHI format:            First Name: Ngoc Minh Truc;

Last Name: Vo

2.              Colombian names

Passport format:           Contreras Estaban
Enrique Patrizio

IHI format:                    First Name: Enrique Patrizio
Last Name: Contreras Estaban

MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO SPACES AFTER YOUR NAME

·       it will be recognised as another character

·       Often people use auto fill to enter their details, this always adds a space after the name – please check that there are no spaces at the end of your name

CLIENTS WHO HAVE ONLY ONE NAME

Clients who have one name only can enter their passport name as an ONLYNAME by entering:

·       The word ‘OnlyName’ in the First Name field

·       exact name details in the Last Name field

This may be successful and an IHI number is generated. It will not, however, match your details in the database where your vaccination was saved if your name was entered in any other format.

It may also not match your details when applying for an international certificate through Centrelink/MyGov.  You will still be required to have your vaccination history merged with the correct name on file for IHI. CovidProof can upload these records for you.
